The Supernova is the catalyst for life to form on planets. A star produces energy by going through a process called Nuclear fusion. Hydrogen atoms within the stars core combine to create helium. when the atoms collide they release energy and core condenses. gravity plays a big role in this process as it causes the core to collapse. After the hydrogen is used up it starts using helium as its source which creates elements like carbon and oxygen which are critical elements for life. After the helium is done the core collapses and the star implodes on itself releasing the new elements into the solar system.
